BENEFITS/ CONTRIBUTION


Based on the objectives above, this research study will propose new methods to apply Automatic Document Receiver systems which possibly not available in the market. If this project idea is modelled carefully, the research outcomes will provide a great contribution in developing the system with current technology.The main original contributions of this research for the projects can be stated briefly as follows:

a)      To enhance the facilities contribute to the higher institution, schools and offices by investigating their effectiveness on the overall system.

b)      Introducing to assessment submission service that this technology not only a new technique to overcome the problem occur nowadays but to improve the service for user satisfaction.

c)      Give a good security to the user (student) where the possibilities of their assignments to be missing or misplaced are reduced.

OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of this project are to learn something new and gain knowledge in built a system. This project expose student to think creatively that needed to build profession that involve in future. This project aims are:
To facilitate the students when the lecturer is not around.
To avoid the assignments from missing.
To help the lecturer detects on student’s cheating from the date of submission. 

METHODOLOGY

This project is combination of 3 method, which are simulation part by using Proteus, programming part of microcontroller system by using PIC C Compiler and hardware part that includes mechanical facilities. In the methodology part here, the block diagram, which represents the relationship between those, is shown together with the process from the beginning of system working in the flowchart.

BLOCK DIAGRAM

From the block diagram, it shows that the Microcontroller act as a main process to control the whole system. For the input parts, it involving 3x4 keypad where by using this components, the user can key in the data of identification number and the number of pages inside the assignments. After that, microcontroller will process the data and give the instructions to the stepper motor to open up the gate of the box. When the user already put their assignments inside the box, then, the LCD will display whether the identification number that has been key in is correct or not. If the answer is yes, the process will go to close the gate and print the receipt. However, if the answer is no, the process will end.

LITERATURE REVIEW

This chapter will discuss the literature review and other related evidence to this project. The information and ideas that relevant to the proposed project is identified and will give an overview of sources, and components that have been explored.
This project is involving the usage of engineering software in one of the electronic parts in the circuits. Some of the components have been use in order to complete the input and output parts and if one of the components missing the device not be able to operate smoothly.
This project shows the Proteus software as a monitoring system and, Microcontroller as a main device to implement and testing the applications. The microcontroller is setting up with suitable programs that can give instruction to both input and output peripheral. 

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Nowadays, many of higher institutions still practice the manual way of submission any assessment that is involving form and rubber-stamping. Sometimes, a student that is facing with late submission will cheat regarding the date of submission. Instead of having penalty with their marks, they choose to trick the assessor by completing the form of submission and stamp the deadline date. In using this project “Automatic Document Receiver”, that entire problem can be solved. It is because of by using microcontroller, a real time clock can be set to the system. With the features of printer for the receipts, the date and time in this receipt can become an evidence and proof for the truth date and time of assignment submission.

INTRODUCTION

Assessment plays a major role in how students learn, their motivation to learn, and how the lecturers teach. It is used for various purposes such as for learning where assessment helps the lecturers or teachers gain insight into what students understand in order to plan and guide instruction, and provide helpful feedback to students. This kind of assessments’ is usually submitted whether in a softcopy form or a hardcopy form.


Most of higher institution is still applying old method of submitting assignments that is involving the use of forms and stamping which can shows the date of submission. Although this kind of method is still acceptable but it can brings to disadvantages of cheating. 


The automatic document receiver is proposed to design by interfacing the microcontroller with keypad as the basic input part, LCD display and thermal printer as the main output parts.  

ABSTRACT

An Automatic Document receiver is a system where students can submit their assignments or assessments through this device. It is a one-way system where the student will only accept their receipt of acceptance once the document was submitted.


The general-purpose for the proposed project is to introduce a new way of submitting the hardcopy of assignments. This project idea is to make the process of submission becoming more convenient, systematic, increase technology for better and management system improvement.


This project is using the technology of powerful microcontroller that can read inputs from external devices, analyze the input, and then output control signals to external devices. There is a whole range of both analogue and digital devices that serve a wide variety of purposes from the microcontroller.


This research for the projects will reviews the various ways to interface the device with any input and output components that will be used as case studies to test and improving the system. The research study will conclude with recommendations on the most suitable microcontroller with respect to applications.
