FYP Sem II : Week 4

Title of Activity:

Buying the components or devices needed & Studying of each of them.

Analysis:

Here are pictures and description that I obtained from some of the main components that I bought:

Adapter 12V

It is a connector that accepts voltage from power supply and stepped down to 12Vdc.

Voltage Regulator LM7805

It  is used to regulate voltage in the system .The voltage regulator module is used to protect PIC and other connected sensors from over voltage. This is because PIC and all other connected sensors, actuators all support 5V DC only.

PIC16F877A Microcontroller

It is used to control the whole system. It can read/write program for more than 100,000 times because of using flash technology. It has 40 pins but only 33 I/O pins can be set as digital input or digital output.

IR Sensor

It is an analog infrared proximity sensor. It can be used to detect obstacles. This sensor has a LED that emits infrared light. Infrared light has the interesting property that it bounces on obstacles.

RS-232 Level Converter

Almost all digital devices require either TTL or CMOS logic levels. Therefore the first step to connecting a device to the RS-232 port is to transform the RS-232 levels back into 0 and 5 Volts and this can be done by RS-232 Level Converters.

Electrolytic Capacitor

It conduct AC current and block  DC current, allowing AC signals to be transferred while blocking DC power and also storing energy.

RFID Reader

There are 3 wires used to control the RFID reader. Orange color wire used to enable/disable the RFID reader. Green and white color wires are signal line.

LED

It act as an indicator. It has positive and negative legs that is needed to be identified before placing in the circuit.

Conclusion:
All the pictures are the component that I already bought. After studying each of them, I started to understand their specification.
